Guide

Which Sifnos beach on which day

Wind direction, how far you want to travel and whether you need lunch nearby matter more than any ranking. This guide sorts the beaches by those questions.

If the north wind is blowing

The meltemi comes from the north, so the south coast is usually the calmer side. Platis Gialos, Vathi, Faros and Chrysopigi are the reliable choices on a windy day.

If you have small children

  • Vathi: shallow, sheltered and small enough to keep an eye on everyone.
  • Kamares: shallow and sandy, with shade and food within a few steps.
  • Platis Gialos: long and sandy, organised, though it can pick up chop in the afternoon.

If you want to walk

Fykiada and the coves beyond Faros are reached on foot along marked paths. Go early, take water, and expect no facilities at the other end.

The path from Faros to Chrysopigi is short, level and worth doing at the end of an afternoon.

Staying close to the sand

The stays we list at Platis Gialos and Vathi are the ones within walking distance of a beach. Everywhere else, plan for a short drive or a bus.
