Getting there
Ferries to Sifnos
Sifnos has no airport, so every visitor arrives by sea at Kamares. This page covers the routes and what to expect; timetables change through the season, so book with the operator or a ticket agent close to your date.
Routes
The routes
- Piraeus to Sifnos
- The main route, taking roughly two to five hours depending on the vessel. Conventional ferries are slower and steadier; high-speed craft are quicker but more likely to be cancelled in strong wind.
- Between the Western Cyclades
- Regular connections with Milos, Serifos, Kimolos and Kythnos, which makes island-hopping along this chain straightforward in season.
- Seasonal links
- Additional services appear in July and August and thin out sharply outside the main season. Check the current timetable rather than assuming last year’s.

Practical notes
- Arrive at the port well before departure; boarding closes earlier than you would expect.
- In strong meltemi wind, high-speed services are the first to be cancelled. A conventional ferry is the safer booking in August.
- Buses meet most arrivals at Kamares in season and run to Apollonia, where the other routes start.
- Tell your property which boat you are on if you arrive late in the evening.
